Rain is now lashing down, which, coupled with the strong winds, makes it very unpleasant. A young couple who were here last night are just stepping off the ferry at Ullapool, I would imagine, probably glad to be off this vomit comet.
When I went into town earlier on, I could hear music - there is an open-stage event in the Castle Grounds which was called "Trees in the Park" last year. It was at Cuddy Point at that time, but I couldn't locate it today. Probably near the castle, but it was raining and I could not be bothered going all that way. An evangelical ensemble was braving the elements and inertia of Stornoway shoppers on Cromwell Street.
Central America can expect Hurricane Felix in a couple of days with 115 mph winds and lots and lots of rain. Another system is cooking up in the Atlantic - keep your eyes peeled. Henriette might give the sunshine seekers in Baja California a nasty surprise in a day or two. She is giving the forecasters a hard time, although the storm is now moving away from mainland Mexico.
We'll probably get some of the fallout from Henriette here in So CA.
ReplyDeleteIt seems to work that way when Mexico has a storm.
