Dean is now making for southeastern Mexico and is affecting Belize, Honduras and Nicaragua. On making landfall near Cozumel tonight, storm surge flooding up to 18 feet / 5.4 metres is possible. Having traversed the Yucatan Peninsula, Dean will reemerge over the open waters of the Bay of Campeche and reinvigorate before making landfall near Tampico on Tuesday.
The hurricane is dominating the headlines, but my regional paper hashed up its spelling in all the excitement. Is this a case of "hopping it"?
That's one heck of a hurricane. I'm so glad many were spared from death. Hurricanes are a nasty business.
ReplyDeleteThey just got carried away with all their 'ea' combos, is all... lol

I cannot even imagine a hurricane! Jamaica will be a mess for a long time now I'm sure. They probably don't have the money to clean up the mess in a timely manner. Thank goodness the death toll wasn't too high. I thought it would be higher.
