Tuesday notes

Atrocious weather overnight, with a full northerly gale and torrential rain. The 7.15 am ferry was cancelled, as it was deemed unsafe to cross the Minch in a northerly gale - you get groundswells and all sorts of nasties. Weather is dry at the moment, and the sun is trying to get through. Fair chance that the 1.45pm ferry will sail.

Now they've found blood in the apartment where Madeleine McCann and her family were staying back in May. This too is being sent for DNA analysis, in tandem with the drinks bottle that the little girl might have used in Belgium. Hope the latter brings a positive identification, rather than the former.

Six miners are missing in a coalmine 16 miles from Huntingdon, Utah (USA) after a collapse of the walls. A quake measuring 3.9 on the Richter scale was registered on seismographs at the same time, but this may have been the actual collapse. It was explained in the article on the BBC website that these collapses are sometimes triggered deliberately.
Rescue efforts are being hampered by further rockfalls. The men are trapped 1500 feet underground, 3 or 4 miles from the mine's entrance. No contact has been established since the accident, yesterday.

  1. That would be the worst...to be trapped in an old coal mine. GAWD! Will be keeping them in my prayers.
Hope your weather eases a bit.

  2. I hope the miners are found soon, it must be a terrible wait for their familles. I also hope it`s the latter that proves Madeleine is alive and well.
