The vagaries of language

What is a boudoir? Well, it is commonly held to be a lady's private quarters. The word is derived from the French bouder which means to pout. I have seen a description in an etymological dictionary that a boudoir is a room where a lady would go to sulk. So, a boudoir in English is a sulkery?
