ReplyDeleteI saw the photos on Ness and I thought since I doubt I will ever get to Scotland I will see it this way. I always think about my great grandfather King and his wife who both emigrated from Scotland. She was an O'Neill and he was King but geneology experts in the family said one of the King ancestors changed his name from the original after he acquired a criminal record! Oh dear. So I looked at all the names in the cemetarys, graves of the soldiers, to see what they were. I am interested in the difference between Scot and Irish names. My grandfather King who was full blooded Scot had a green thumb, and his ranches were like emeralds, he loved the green and now both of his ranches have been purchased by outsiders who just wanted a home in beautiful canyon country but were not devoted farmers. That kind of farming has gone out of style where it is not deemed necessary! Gerry
