Went out to the village of Crossbost, 8 miles south of here as the crow flies, but a bit more by road - about 11 miles I'd say. As I mentioned a few days ago, I am visiting graveyards across Lewis to collect photographs of graves for victims of the Iolaire disaster. Crossbost's lower cemetery yielded 15, a sad total. The weather was not too good, occasional showers of drizzle passing through, dropping the temperature. When it brightened up, the mercury rose to about 11C. In the showers, it was more like 7C. Nonetheless, I've had worse days, although it always seems to rain when I go to North Lochs.
Enjoy the pictures.

Do you know Guido? When you look at the list of men on the monument in comparison to the size of the islands population...it was far too many lives given up for we who came along in the future. Far too many! Both wars and the disaster of the Iolaire must have wreaked an awful toll in the lives of the people of Stornoway who were left behind to mourn. Thank you formaking me aware of this.
