Was horrified to learn of the collapse of the bridge across the Mississippi in Minneapolis last night. Seven people are known to have died so far as dozens of vehicles were plunged into the water as the whole structure came down, first on top of a railway track underneath, where a freight train was passing, then into the river. I hope no more fatalities are found, but that hope seems faint.

I couldn't believe it when I saw it on the news late yesterday afternoon. There are over half a million highway bridges in the US, now we are all wondering.."is my bridge safe." They are just saying on TV there are several dozen people still missing. Divers are searching the muddy waters of the Mississippi River for victims. They are also just saying that in 2005, after an inspection the bridge was found "structurally deficient." So sad...very, very sad. Linda, in Washington state ,who crosses the Tacoma Narrows Bridge frequently.
ReplyDeleteAt this point I believe there are 30 people yet to be accounted for. I hope they are found, but people are beginning to think they may not. Keeping these people and those injured in my prayers on the smoke. (Hugs) Indigo
ReplyDeleteI couldn`t quite believe it myself Guido, what a terrible thing to happen.
ReplyDeleteLove Sandra xx
My SIL's brother crosses that bridge frequently, in fact right about when it fell he was thinking about crossing it to go to the grocery store. Angels surely must have been watching over him. Joni
ReplyDeleteHow awful for the people that were traveling on the bridge.
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts go out to them all.
