The basic framework for this project, which you can access on http://facesmemorial.blogspot.com, is now established on the site, which I am "hosting" on Blogger. All 100+ villages are now entered, with the list of names being checked over the next few days and weeks, using Stornoway library and the various historical societies in Lewis. Links on the Faces site.
This project is about those that laid down their lives for King and Country between 1914 and 1919/20. I am aware that hostilities ceased on 11 November 1918, and that peace"broke out" in June 1919, with the signing of the Treaty of Versailles. Fat lot of good that was. At any rate, the Roll of Honour, which is the foundation under my work, lists people who died up to 1920; some as a result of action, others were listed and follow-up found their death noted during 1919 or 1920.
I am also including some 400 portraits. At time of posting, I have put pictures on from the villages Achmore through to Coll, alphabetically.
