Parking charges

Stornoway has now joined the rest of the world in having parking charges. As of tomorrow, anyone parking in the Percival Square carpark will be paying 20p for 1 hour, 50p for 2 hours and £1 for 3 hours parking. You're not allowed to return within 2 hours of leaving.

Isn't that just extortionate?

  1. Lol  20p is not out of the way. I had to pay 2 pounds  for 3 hours in Stockton. Pity we have to pay at all really.

  2. I keep waiting for my city to start that. They allow free parking now...but I figure it won't last.

  3. I'm moving up to Stornoway tomorrow!  What a cheap place to park.  By next year they will have enjoyed all the revenues so much they will up the charges.   Where will the money go Guido?    Jeanie

  4. You`ve just reminded me Guido that you don`t have to pay to park in St.Petersburg. You just park at the kerbside, end of story. Slava says it`s only a matter of time before they realise there is money to be made with meters. :o)

  5. And to think we found side streets within a block of San Francisco's Fisherman's Warf with no parking meters, where we parked for three straight days and nights.  Here in my town, people aren't allowed to "feed"  the meters either.  That is, it's against the law to go out just as your time is expiring and put more money in.  If the "Parking Czar" catches you doing that, it's a big fat ticket or "off with your head" it depends on what kind of mood they are in at the time.    How much is 20p in US money?
