An outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease has been confirmed on a farm near Guildford in Surrey, England. A nationwide movement ban on ruminants, such as cattle and pigs, has been ordered. Positive results to labtests were released in the last few minutes, after the affected farm was placed under restriction last night.
Six years ago, the army were brought in to help contain a serious outbreak across the UK.

Oh Guido I do hope it is an isolated case. We don't need anything else now. What with floods etc. Thanks for keeping us informed. Love Sybil x
ReplyDeleteWhat a shame. The last time there was a mass slaughter of animals we could smell it from our house. It was terrible.

Lets hope it is contained in Surrey and hasn't infected anywhere else! We had enough of Foot & Mouth here in the Lakes last time. The smell from dead cattle lying in the shipons and farms of Cumbria was awful! Surely it won't happen again? Please God not!

Thank you Guido for the information. I hope they do have it all contained.
