Well, it's April 15th, and although temperatures are lagging behind, it did feel like spring today. The dandelions are out, it was a bright sunny day. And at 9.50pm it was still a bit light. The bug in picture 8 found its way inside.

oh my goodness! what kind of bug is that? (#8)
ReplyDeleteand you made Dandelions looks nice, but where I leave it is a weed that takes over our grass here in US.
Gem :-)
Well, it's 38 degrees and the wind is howling at 4pm. The dandelions are blooming here too. Here's what the County Agent in Seattle has to say about gorse; "Gorse is an exotic invader from Europe, originally introduced as an ornamental. It is a spiny evergreen shrub in the pea family, dense and stiff, forming impenetrable thickets. Vigorous stands grow outward, crowding out all other vegetation and forming a center of dry dead vegetation. This, in combination with the oil content of the plant, presents a major fire hazard. In 1936 the town of Bandon, Oregon, was burned to the ground; 14 people died and only 16 buildings remained unburned. The disaster was fueled by extensive infestations of gorse. As a Class B noxious weed, its control is required in King County(Seattle.)" At first it made me thought of the hated "Scotch Broom" that multiplies like crazy. Ugly bug !!!!! I hope you squished it. The bug you have there is a Vine Weevil Guido. It lays its larvae alongside the roots of your plants and they munch the 'feet' off them! She has probably already done all the damage but they are best eradicated if possible.
ReplyDeleteI love to see swathes of dandelions along the verges of the roads. They usually take over from the golden carpets of daffodils here in the lakes around about now.
It is lovely having a bit of colour again...isn't it?
Jeanie
I enjoyed your pictures, everybody groans about dandilions around here while I find them charming. Oooops...you better get that bug outdoors! Since I won't kill anything ~even bugs~ I am sending bugs to a new home outdoors quite often this time of year.
