Bright morning, but very cold by our standards; overnight low was -3C, and it's still below freezing now. Severe gales are battering northern England, but up here there is no wind.
Down under, Australia is suffering from summer floods. Heavy downpours have caused flooding in New South Wales and Queensland, whilst the city of Darwin in the north is recovering from a pounding by Cyclone Helen. It is worth pointing out that Helen did not reach hurricane strength; it was a strong tropical storm, with winds up to 60 knots.
Thanks very much for all the comments on my brace of lambs for the Beginnings photo competition. I don't think I've ever had this many comments on an entry!
