Thursday notes

Fairly bright if broadly cloudy morning. Yesterday's maximum temps were a staggering 16C / 60F, but that was with wall-to-wall sunshine. It's cloudier now, and we should expect a drop of drizzle.

Our German guests have taken off for the West Side, after I introduced them to the delights of our bus timetable. Mind you, having 4 to 6 buses a day on an island population of 20,000, of whom 1 out of 3 live in Stornoway, is actually very good.

Spent last night moving pictures related to the Iolaire list to a different website, hope it doesn't overload my Photobucket entitlement. Have a look, and don't forget to click on some of the portrait-links, and the gravestone links. You'll see a number of faces, and I'm told that you need to walk the streets of Stornoway for only a few days to notice the similarities. This is 90 years ago, a totally different era - but yet so recognisable. Spare a thought.

  1. We have fog, which is slowly lifting, and a fine misty rain here in the Lakes Guido.  Yesterday was brilliant sunshine...where did it go?  Jeanie
