Sunrise, sunset

If you look at my sidebar, you'll see a small black item telling the times of sunrise and sunset at Stornoway. For today, 15 May, that's a sunrise at 5 am and sunset at 9.40pm. In the regional paper, the Press & Journal, there is usually a list of these times for four towns across the Highlands and Islands. Yesterday, it suggested that the Shetland capital of Lerwick was on a different planet, possibly in a different solar system altogether. Look at this image:


So, the sun rose in Lerwick at 9.34pm, to set again at 3.30am. Elsewhere across the region, the sun behave in exactly the opposite fashion. Similarly for the moon, which rose in Lerwick as it was setting elsewhere. Ach, they just got their number mixed up down in Aberdeen, where the P&J is printed.
