Friends without faces

We sit and we type, and we stare at our screens.
We all have to wonder, what this possibly means.
With our mouse we roam, through the rooms in a maze,
Looking for something or someone, as we sit in a daze.
We chat with each other, we type all our woes;
Small groups we do form, and gang up on our foes.
We wait for somebody to type out our name,
We want recognition , but it's always the same.
We give kisses and hugs, and sometimes we flirt.
In IMs we chat deeply and reveal why we hurt.
We do form friendships, but why, we don't know
How some of these friendships will flourish and grow.
Why is it that on screen we can be so bold,
Telling our secrets, that have never been told?
Why is it we share the thoughts in our mind
With those we can't see, as though we were blind.
The answer is simple; it is clear as a bell.
We all have our problems, and need someone to tell.
We can't tell real people, but tell someone we must
so we turn to the 'puter, and to those that we trust.
Even though it is crazy. The truth still remains.
They are "Friends Without Faces", and odd little names.

  7. I love that you said it so plain and clear.  But anyone who's read my journal has seen my face.  I'm not bashful.....Linda in rainy Washington

  8. Hello again. I think you are so right with your words. I agree that we have to tell someone. Sometimes its hard to talk with family so when I feel that I can't talk to family I turn to people like you at J-Land. Sometimes I just share some thoughts, sometimes I just want to share my day. Sometimes I just have to come to J-Land and let down my hair so to speak. I always have felt welcomed here. You are right when you write "We chat with each other, we type all our woes;". You are very right when you say "We do form friendships" which I have. I like J-Land its a place for me to come and talk. Thanks for being a friend.

  14. Friends without faces but there is so much evidence of their reality.  The writers have always been my best friends, the ones bound to understand.  Enjoyed the poem.  Most cute.  I must copy it for Doc, too, it is so apt.   Gerry
