Iffy weather today, with light showers, occasional sunshine and low temperatures - 10C. Probably confirms the prejudices of the cruiseline passengers who have come ashore this morning. The Arielle lies anchored off Arnish Lighthouse, and the Explorer (a ship that goes to the (Ant)Arctic regions) is docked alongside pier no 3. Passengers from the Arielle go ashore on tenders. Unfortunately, whoever organised their tour did not bother to charter a handful of coaches to take them round the place. However, they could jump on a service bus and take a look round that way. Only costs £4. Plenty of anoraks around town, the bookshop was bombed out and I dread to think what the Hebridean Jewellery shop looks like.
Joe the Journalseditor has made an entry about new features for journals. It explains to a certain extent why our pictures are giving us grief. At any rate, in summary, the following features are going to be introduced:
* a new way of uploading pictures
* people will be able to comment even if they do NOT have a AOL/AIM screenname
* using a webcam, you can upload a video straight to your All about me section. No, I'm not gonna do that.
More details in the actual entry. You can try it out in your beta-journal (the URL for mine runs http://beta.journals.aol.co.uk/pharmolo/NorthernTrip), but please note that any entries made on your beta-journals do NOT make it onto your main journal.

Had to look up what an "anorak" was, we usually call them navy coats, very handy in a chill. Thanks for all the info from Joe, it certainly sounds exciting. And keeping two Journals might be a nice idea, separate certain topics like poetry or whatever. xoxo CATHY
ReplyDeleteIt's interesting the changes they are making to journals. I hope it all goes well. I have my doubts, though.
