Today is the start of the East Pacific hurricane season - the Atlantic one follows suit in just over 2 weeks' time. Be prepared. Next week is hurricane awareness week in the USA, more here.
Over here, it's a quiet day - the calm before the storm. Between Thursday and Saturday, we can expect gales in our neck of the woods.
Elsewhere in Scotland, an infestation of ants disrupted secondary school pupils, sitting their exams. I dropped into Radio Scotland midway through the newsitem, so don't have full details.
