Hurricane update - 15 May

Tropical cyclone Akash has hit Bangladesh, leaving 40 fishermen missing and coastal areas flooded. Fishermen were warned not to venture out, but word probably failed to reach them on time. 150 houses were damaged by the storm.

Two cyclones are in an embryonic state across the Pacific. Micronesia, where many East Asian typhoons are born, has one, lying some 260 miles south of Guam. An alert is outstanding. If a typhoon does form, it is likely to make for the Philippines - this is conjecture and I'm keeping an eye open.

The second tropical system is out near the Solomon Islands, east of Queensland. Just to stress that neither are actually fully-fledged cyclones.
