Wednesday notes

Nice and sunny afternoon, but breezy and cool. Spare a thought for those in northern England and Northern Ireland, who are in the middle of a spell of heavy rain that is likely to last for at least 4 days.

The port is buzzing today. First off, a French trawler, LO 924432, came in to change crews. On its way out, they tried to knock Goat Island out of the sea, so they had to return to no 3 pier to check for damage. No harm done, they left 20 minutes ago. Next, the Akademik Lazanev turns up, but this Russian research boat cannot come in, because its berth alongside no 3 pier is occupied by the Lorient boat. And AIS is telling me that the Guard Baltic is just east of Point, ALSO heading for Stornoway. That aside, a cement carrier (the Ronez) is docked, as is HMS Bangor, a minesweeper. This place is fast becoming like Liverpool Docks!

  1. Well, Guido, you cannot say you get bored. I saw some of the Irish rain on the t.v. last night.  Awful!

  2. We certainly are having much needed rain here in the North of England Guido.  All my wall plants were burnt from the recent heatwave we have been experiencing for the last week.  Stornoway sounds buy..busy..busy at the moment.  That will suit you down to the ground seeing all those boats vying for a berth.    Jeanie
