Just need to stress that I am in the Isle of Lewis, which is 80 miles north of Canna. Total population here is about 22,000, whilst Canna only has 15 permanent inhabitants. Hence the call for two families to move there.
Life in Lewis is much the same as in Canna, except there are more people about.
I have been here for nearly 2 years, but operating a "carpe diem" policy. Carpe Diem meaning "live by the day".

I know I could go and live to Canna (as long as there is the internet connection with the rest of the world), but my teenagers would not, so if it were the case it would not even be good for Canna as I would only bring one person and not a family... but how could a family survive at Canna? There are educational matters with chiodren and teenagers, and rents/bills to pay... How do people survive overthere? do they open their own shops/restaurant?

You wouldn't consider moving there would you ? I'd go crazy with no people around. Are there stores there ? A movie theater ? McDonald's ? There's 160 homes in the mobile park I live in..that's bigger than Canna. Linda in Washington

ReplyDeleteI certainly wouldn't like it there. I don't think it's a place for young children either. It's OK if they're brought up there but being plucked from a normal life with social connections to live on a place like that would hardly be fair to most young kids. Jeannette xx
