Gales and high tides

An advance warning for coastal residents in the UK. Some very windy conditions, possibly with gales, are likely from Friday onwards. A series of deep depressions is moving in from the Atlantic and will be responsible for some wild weather.

Yesterday, I printed off this week's tidal predictions, and noticed we have springtides on Friday through to Sunday. Here in Stornoway, we can expect tides nudging 19 feet / 5.6m. Last month, such high tides were lapping peacefully below the jetties. This weekend, we should be prepared for some nastiness, in the shape of flooding.
