Guam and Saipan in the Pacific Ocean will get an unwanted visitor on Tuesday afternoon local time: Typhoon Kong-Rey will come rampaging across with winds of 95 mph.
Residents in these islands should familiarise themselves with the Hurricane Advice as relayed on the NWS website.
Northern Madagascar should start to brace itself for the arrival of cyclone Jaya. The impact is probably not as severe as that of cyclone Indlala, a few weeks ago, but bearing in mind this is the 7th cyclone strike on the Isle of Lemurs this season, it will still come as a severe blow. Once across northern Madagascar, Jaya will reemerge over the open waters of the Mozambique Channel - where it may once again turn into a tropical cyclone. Northern Mozambique or southern Tanzania could be in the firing line. However, I am forecasting beyond the scope of the official agencies, so I'll keep posting.
Any readers in the area - please spread the word.
