A funeral service will be held on Saturday for 60-year old Joe McTaggart, who died on Monday in a canoeing incident off Arnol. He was a father of 11 children. His youngest child, who went with him in the canoe, has not been found and is now presumed dead. A memorial service will be held for Daniel.
Local opinion says that canoes and the seas off the West Side are incompatible, because of unpredictable currents and tides. Whether the pair was wearing lifejackets is subject to debate.
