Hurricane Florence is approaching Bermuda, and I am grateful for having Internet access at this point. I can now access the Bermuda Weather Service and pull their reports and radar images. The radar clearly shows the eye of Florence 300 km / 190 miles to the south southwest. There has already been a heavy pulse of rain, and current windspeeds are at 46 knots, force 9 bordering 10, gusting to 53 knots, force 10. It will get worse though. Current forecast is for winds up to 80 knots, 90 mph sustained winds on passage of the centre of Florence.
This is the webcam image from St Georges, Bermuda, at 17.58 local time (20.58 GMT).
Below you see the radar image at 20.47 GMT. The hole in the clouds at 300 km is the centre of hurricane Florence.
