Wednesday 5 March

Weather has done a volte-face, and we're back to windy and cloudy conditions. The forecast on Radio Scotland was completely wrong this morning, talking of snow and ice. Temperature is nearly 10C / 50F and we've got a galewarning outstanding.

Azerbaijan and Armenia are once again eyeball-to-eyeball over the disputed region of Nagorno-Karabach. Following a full-scale war in 1994, Armenia took control of the area. Azeri and Armenian forces clashed in the northwest of the region yesterday. Armenia is in turmoil at the moment over disputed elections. Clashes in the capital Yerevan over this issue claimed 8 lives.

Common sense seems to be falling by the wayside on a global scale at the moment.
