Junkfood

Prince Charles has been forthright again, and put his foot into MacDonald's, the fast food chain. He reportedly asked a nutritionist, during a visit to the Persian Gulf, why MacDonald's hadn't been banned yet. I do think he has a point. As I mentioned two entries back, a lad of 8 had eaten himself up to a weight of 15½ stones (95 kg) - on the products by MacDonalds et al.

Personally, I do eat junkfood, but only if I don't have the opportunity to make or buy something more decent. The last time I ate a MacDonalds is about 3 years ago. Whole generations are now being brought up on the stuff. Officially, there is not really anything wrong with eating chips and burgers, but only if you don't do it all of the time. Once again, you have to give it to Prince Charles to put his finger on a rotten spot in our society, and good for him.

  1. I'll admit to a soft spot for McDonalds, myself....  although there are plenty things on the menu that aren't junk... the chicken sandwich and salad is pretty good..  :)
(ok...ok...but my favorite still remains a Quarter Pounder with cheese and extra onion...LOL)

Do you notice I always have a comment on food related entries?!  ROFL

  2. I haven't eaten at McDonald's in about a year or so.  My son and I used to go about once every two weeks when he was small.  Not now.  I have to admit, I do like their burgers, but they upset my stomach.  I wonder why? Hmmmmm....
    More incentive to stay away!

  3. I haven`t eaten at MacDonalds for years as I hate to by rushed when I`m eating and I have always preffered Burger King anyway.  I think junk food should be a treat not an everyday alternative to a home cooked meal.

  4. I agree on banning the likes of McDonalds !! Perhaps then and only then will we actually get off the fast food junket and sit down as families at the dinner table. We can only dream right? (Hugs) Indigo

  5. I agree. I cant even eat a McDonalds hamburger anymore. It doesnt even taste like meat. Its scary how hard our bodies have to work to get rid of the toxins in todays food. My sister was telling me about this nutritionist who came to her school. She had all the teachers eat a dorrito slowly. Chewing just one for a few minutes. It ended up that an after taste began to accumulate and its something your taste buds dont sense when you eat a dorrito fast. She was saying that your saliva breaks down the food and you end up really tasting the preservatives and additives. I havent tried it yet but I bet its true. ~Raven

  6. Yeah, ban McDonalds! I can't believe I'm agreeing with Prince Charles over something! Lol! It amazes me that people wouldn't put cheap polluted petrol in their cars but will stuff their poor bodies full of junk food! Same as if something goes wrong with the car, it's straight to the garage to find out what's happened yet they'll put off seeing a doctor if their body isn't working too good! Strange! 7. Just so that you know, a whole ton of us in the USA won't eat at MickeyD's, either.  Even if there IS one a block from me.  Okay, I agree with Amy? who said that there are some healthier things on the menu.  That is true, at least, near me.  And, I know that they take local cuisine into consideration (lobster sandwiches in Maine, crabcakes near the Chesapeake Bay, in season, okay, I do buy both of those, lol, and in some countries, McD's mimic some of their customs, too).   I do also believe that sometimes, it's that the people themselves should exert a bit more self control, combined with a company offering alternatives that are healthier.   -- Robin
