A tourist, staying in a hotel near Rhiconich, in the far northwestern Highlands of Scotland, was reported missing last night. He had been hillwalking and birdwatching, but failed to return to the hotel at nightfall. Police and coastguards, including a helicopter, were out to look for the man. Weather conditions were very poor, with high winds, rain and snow.
The missing man was finally located along the road south, towards Ullapool, at 3.50 am. He had fallen and hit his head, which left him confused and disorientated. The man was not dressed for serious hillwalking.

Thank goodness the man was found safe after his ordeal. I do hope that he will be a bit more careful in the future.

I am glad that the man was found. Poor thing being confused after that fall was in danger from the cold. Helen
ReplyDeletePoor man, I doubt he'll forget that vacation too soon.

History repeating itself yet again!!! I have been in the highlands many a time and seen people totally inadequately dressed for hiking etc. When will people realise that hill walkinig/hiking is just not like a stroll in the park!!!
ReplyDeleteso glad he was saved.

Thank goodness he was found before disaster set in. A woman with Alzheimer, a cousin of my mothers, left the carecenter in Utah in the winter, and was not found until she was unconscious in the snow with no shoes on. I have not heard if she reoovered. So you always have to be very concerned until the missing person is located. Gerry
ReplyDeleteso glad they found him alive and in an "okay" condition
