Friday notes

The sun has just set on a very nice Friday, with hardly a cloud in the sky. Been for a walk round the Castle Grounds for an hour or two, also to update a subscription-only walk I have waymarked round there.

Check out www.walkingworld.com, walk 3424. For £1.50 you can have the description. You may have to wait a while before you see today's pictures on there, as they have a large backlog.

I was saddened to learn of the devastation wrought by tornadoes, striking Lake County during the night. Apparently, houses were flattened and 14 people were killed. For the moment, the danger is not yet over as the NWS warns of a possibility of further tornadoes.

Down under, around the Gulf of Carpentaria, residents in the Queensland - Northern Territory border region of Australia are warned of gales, carrying winds of 100 kph (62 mph). The weather system responsible could develop into a formal tropical cyclone.
