Had one heck of a job getting logged on for emails tonight. I went through AOL France, Germany, Canada, UK and USA. And they all reported a fault in the Screen Name Service. Persistence paid off, finally managed to get through at 10 pm (BST).
By the way, beware of virus alerts from anyone that is NOT your anti-virus software. A very dangerous scam is in operation, which can hold your files to ransom ("Ransomware"). A 30-digit password can be purchased by buying from a Russia-based on-line pharmacy. One person had to pay $75 to get her stuff back.
Advice: if you haven't already got them - install a firewall and anti-virus software, and use a spyware catcher like Ad-Aware. Some people are definitely out to spoil your on-line experience, it would seem. Yuk.
I've had trouble with AOL today too. Seems a lot of people have. Thanks for the virus warning. I'd flip if my computer got damaged!
ReplyDeleteHave a good night, Pamela
I think we've all had problems today including one that tells you that your Windows XP isn't genuine and tries to get you to install their version. I just unplugged my computer to get rid of it! I'm always getting that anti-virus software pop up and delete it. I have firewall and MacAffee but it doesn't stop them getting through. We've also all had problems with our emails being delivered but that turns out to be AOL's fault, they're supposedly doing some improvements to our service! Jeannette xx
ReplyDeleteHad problems most of the day. Turns out AOL was "upgrading" our service! You'd think they'd let you know BEFORE they take half a day out of your life driving you crazy thinking something is wrong with your computer!!! GRRR
