I just couldn't get out of bed this morning. Went into town in the afternoon to buy an MP3-player/recorder. Then I headed into An Lanntair to attend competitions for the local Mod. Folk groups from primary schools were playing their hearts out. I gained admission for just £1; the program for the whole 3 day event cost £3. There are 12 competitions on today, with another 34 on other days. On Monday a separate competition focused on literature. Quality of performance is high. It's getting warm outside when I return to mrs B's for a quick bite. Next session starts at 6.30pm in the Town Hall, when secondary school age pupils play as folk groups. They all start with a soundcheck then two songs each. The schools involved are those from Bayble, Back, Lionel and Shawbost. Only one over 15 group plays, Abair Fuaim (What a Noise). Proceedings finish at 9.20. Winners are expected to play at the final concert on Friday. It's very light still by 1.05 a.m..
