Sunday afternoon

We've just had a big snow shower or two, leaving a considerable layer of snow on the tops of the Arnish hills, across the bay. The hills are not high, about 60 m / 200 ft, but that nonetheless made all the difference. It would appear we're heading for a cold night, so any thawed snow will freeze. Have seen NO gritters out today, just yet, but (a) the company doing the gritting recently went bust and (b) it's the Sabbath. The ferry did return from the mainland at 3pm, after not being able to make the crossing last night because of the stormy conditions. At the moment, it's very quiet.

I also finally managed to wade through all the alerts, some 100 in the end.

  2. I's say that "Old Man Winter" is hanging on by his thumbs in your area. Sorry about that.  I guess our 52 degrees would feel like the tropics to you folks.   Linda in Washington state
