Cold day, but temperatures fortunately moderated by the surrounding seas. Current reading 4C. Elsewhere in Scotland, major disruption due to snow and high winds. The unmanned station on North Rona, 60 miles north of here, recorded 75 mph as a sustained windspeed overnight. That's hurricane force. The weatherstation at Eoropie is off-line, after registering a 75 mph gust at 10.15pm last night. Our cold spell will last until Wednesday, but further south it may take a day or two longer. As I said earlier in the week, March has a Janus head on it, and we're now seeing the ugly, winter face. Take care when in snow.
Forgot to mention that ferry services are severely disrupted. Our ferry could not sail from Ullapool last night, but is now on its away across, taking advantage of a weather window.
