It is 25 years ago since the Argentinian junta ordered the invasion of the Islas Malvinas, known to the Anglo-Saxon world as the Falkland Islands. Follow a short period of diplomatic posturing, prime minister Margaret Thatcher ordered a Task Force to the South Atlantic to wrest control of the Falklands from the Argentine occupying forces. Following 2 months of hard and bloody combat, the Union Jack was finally raised over the islands' capital, Stanley in June 1982.
In a series of articles on life in the islands, the BBC published an another page today, which is worth reading. Those in the UK can watch a program on Monday, April 2nd, in which veterans talk of their experiences. Time: 9pm, BBC 2.

I remember those times well Guido. Quite frightening they were too. Those poor men who died so horrifically so that the Falklands could remain under British Rule. It felt so strange to be fighting Argentina. It was also quite surreal.
