Whilst tropical cyclone George fades away into Western Australia's interior, his brother Jacob is flexing his muscles on the 1,000 mile crossing from Christmas Island to WA. Jacob is now half-way there, and looks like he may make landfall near Karratha, some 250 miles west of Port Hedland which got slammed by George on Thursday. A full newsreport, including video, can be viewed on this ABC WA webpage.
Further west in the Indian Ocean, a new cyclone appeared on the satellite images through today. The hurricane hunters in La Reunion were asleep, but folk over in Hawaii did have their eyes peeled. Expect me to start mentioning the Mascareignes again (La Reunion and Mauritius). Need tomorrow's update first though.
