Thursday notes

Today continued much the way it started, with lots of sunshine and occasional sharp showers. It's not warm, and next week the whole country can expect significant falls of SNOW. That coming hard on the heels of the pretty mild week some are having right now (I don't call today's 5C mild) could be a bit of a harsh contrast. However, as I said a few days ago, it's only March, and that has a Janus face on it. Winter on the one, spring on the other.

Went out for an amble in the Castle Grounds, the park area outside Stornoway's town centre, and found early spring flowers and the giant rhubarb beginning to sprout its leaves.

  1. We've had quite a drop in temps, too.  And we've had some really bad thundershowers.

  2. It's cold here today too.  38 degrees with dark grey overcast.  Yesterday was cool but at least the sun was shining.  Not so today.  It's 1:30pm and I'm still feeding the wood stove to keep the house warm without turning on the furnace.  I hope none of get any more snow...we've all had enough.  Linda in Washington state (brrrrrrrrrr)

  3. We've had showers today.  Nothing heavy though.  Yesterday was spectacular!  I am so lucky I was able to go out for a walk in the brilliant sunshine.  I walked amongst the daffodils, crocus and helibores.  Now it's going to snow on all of them next week.  They wont stand a chance!  Inclement weather that it is!!  The gritter has been round covering our hill this evening. Supposedly we are to have a -2 degree frost.  On top of the rain... that will be fun trying to get out and about in a car.  Oh well!  We'll see.   Stay warm.   Jeanie
