Saturday notes

Grey, drizzly and very windy indeed. Temperature at the moment 10C, which is likely to drop like a stone tonight as cold air comes flooding in from the north. Expect to see snow showers tomorrow. On the mainland, as well as in England, snow will accumulate 5 to 10 cms (2 to 4 inches) deep. Tonight will see winds peaking at 50 to 60 mph in the Northern Isles (Orkney and Shetland), with gusts up to 90 mph. At the moment, gusts at Eoropie (Butt of Lewis) are at 65 mph.

When I went into town at 2.30, it was quiet, but all of a sudden the wind blew up at the current force 7. Curtains of rain could be seen blowing across town, making life difficult for the shoppers. Was only too happy to return indoors.

There are NO tropical cyclones to report on, fortunately.
