Snow in Buenos Aires

A story to cool down all those in America who are sighing under that 90 to 130F heatwave. In Buenos Aires, they had their first snow since 1918. Although the snow has now ceased, temperatures are still well below normal. In certain places in the south of the country, the mercury has plummeted to zero Fahrenheit, that is -18C. Two people in Argentina have died of exposure, one in Chile, and the main motorway in Bolivia is blocked by heavy snow. Still in Argentina, a base in the far south of the country currently has temperatures of -24C, winds at galeforce, barometer down to 950 mbars and a visibility of barely 200 metres due to a snowstorm. Anyone wanna swap? Or speak again in 6 months time, perhaps.

  1. Nope!   S'pose I'd rather have this rain Guido.
Seriously though...I hope this freak weather doesn't claim any more victims.

  3. Wow, I've been to Bolivia, and find this hard to imagine (other than up high in the Andes).  Thanks for this info.  What an interesting world of weather we have.  (Hopefully here it'll rain tonight and hence be somewhat cooler through, oh, tomorrow morning, anyway.) -- Robin
