Afternoon notes

It appears that the two dolphins, put down at Lower Sandwick this morning, belonged to a pod of five animals who had become stuck in the bay at low tide. When the tide rose again after midday, the remaining three managed to free themselves and went out to sea at around 1pm.

The coastline search for the body of Daniel McTaggart, who went missing on a canoe trip a week ago, will be stepped down after tonight. Two or three searches a day were carried out by local volunteers along a 16 mile stretch of coast between Dalbeg in the west and Borve in the northeast. One more search will be carried out around high water this evening; the search will be resumed later in the week, when springtides are expected. It is hoped that they will help to locate Daniel's body.

  1. I fell so bad for that boy's family.  I'm sure that his mum would like to put her son to rest.   I hope they find him.   Linda in Washington
