The sea gives, the sea takes. A saying that has been proven only too true over the last few days. The search for Daniel MacTaggart, still missing a week after a canoeing incident off Arnol in Lewis, has been put on hold until the springtides come later in the week.
Down in the English Channel, the body of a 2-year old child was recovered from waters off Littlehampton, Sussex on Sunday. It was found 400 yards from an abandoned dinghy. Reports are coming in as I type that the body of a man is being taken from the sea.
A man has died following an incident off Cape Wrath, 60 miles to the northeast of here, where he fell overboard from his yacht. Lifeboats from Thurso and Lochinver coordinated with other shipping in the area as well as the Coastguard helicopter. The man was located at 12.50pm and transferred to hospital in Stornoway, where he was declared dead on arrival.

These drownings are so sad ..love Jan xx
ReplyDeleteYou are right about the sea and it is so so. But living here where there is so much water, the lakes, the rivers and the pacific ocean, these things happen all the time.
ReplyDeleteThe summer is a particulary bad time for these incidents. The water of any kind needs to be given its due respect. I know where you are it looks like you're surrounded by water. Hope your day has been great. Joni
How sad......
ReplyDeletebe well,

Wow! I am in the flat lands of Kansas! Haven't given much tought about the sea taking lives. For some reason my computer does not load up the videos?? Maybe because I have dial-up. Thank you for visiting my journal. Have a wonderful week. Janie
ReplyDeleteWe don't have that many incidences like that here. I wonder why? We have a few....but seems that there are always missing people from the sea where you are. I wonder if the sea is much rougher there?
