Monday notes

It looked like a nice day, but the clouds are rolling in from the east, and the rainfall radar shows a big blob of heavy rain moving in from the Sutherland coast on the mainland.

Took some awesome pictures last night of the sunset, and at 1.10 am; the latter showing the midnight gloaming. I have yet to process them, but you'll be blown away by them (whetting appetites here lol).

Over in Japan, an earthquake measuring 6.8 on the Richter scale has killed 5 people, caused extensive damage. A fire at a nuclear plant near the city of Niigata has been put out. The earthquake comes hard on the heels of cyclone Man-yi which strafed the southwest of Japan earlier in the weekend.

So, Osama bin Liner has made another video appearance. Or has he? There is no way of verifying whether the world's worst bandit has indeed made a new clip, or whether his followers have rehashed old footage. I think it is more ominous that Bin Loafin's no 2 has issued threats against the United Kingdom over the decision to grant a knighthood to (now) Sir Salman Rushdie. Whilst I think that Rushdie's knighthood is not deserved - even if he is a great writer, the controversy that has attracted his works should have been a warning signal to the British government to tread carefully. However, it was Tony Blair's last stance, and whilst he is now coming to grips with the vagaries of modern technology like a mobile phone, his successor Gordon Brown is left to deal with yet another poison chalice.

Today, I'll also write who deserves the Rockin' Blogger award. All of you, I think, but I'll single out a few unhappy culprits from amongst you. Take cover.
