Went on a trip down memory lane this afternoon, in more ways than one.
I visited the village of Kershader, some 22 miles south of here (by road). This takes about 40 minutes on the bus - return fare £3.75. I stayed here in the winter of 2004/5, and the weather was appropriately chilly. The mountains in the distance were wreathed in snow, ice covered the puddles and I even discovered a pocket of snow along the roadside. One motorist wanted to give me a lift, but I didn't want to put him out for just 200 yards.
My primary purpose was to photograph the war memorial, but this was only partially successful. You'll see in the gallery above that one of the pics of the panels with names came out quite fuzzy. Light conditions were very poor. I didn't get there until 3pm, only 45 minutes before sunset. It was overcast - and I should have used flash. Anyway, after pottering around the Ravenspoint Centre, I set off for a hike into the moors, which (as you will see) was a soggy affair. And freezing cold.

ReplyDeleteI enjoyed viewing your pictures, such a pretty area you live in. Everything always looks so clean, the roadsides, the towns...you would be horrified at some of the highways and towns around here. I loved that one little lonely pine tree ~ so cute!

beautiful land you live in; I do enjoy looking at your pictures. 40 minutes on the bus to go 22 miles; that's traveling pretty good speed; must be not picking up too many passengers along the way I wonder? In Southern California it takes, during rush hour traffic, 50 minutes to go 10 miles by bus.
