Wet and miserable start to the day, although the rain appears to be moving away into the Atlantic. More arrests have been made following the attack on Glasgow Airport; I'm making a separate entry on some of the suspects.
Southern Pakistan and western India have been battered by heavy rain and flooding, after a tropical cyclone swept through the area. The consequences have been quite severe, with hundreds dead and many more homeless; not just in Pakistan and India, but also in Afghanistan, to the north. A new spell of heavy rain is sweeping into the area, another remnant of a tropical cyclone. Whether this will reform now that it is over open water is actually doubtful. More on this story here.
Fortunately, the hurricane season in the Altantic and East Pacific is progressing quietly.
