I copy a warning that Jeannette [jeanno43] carried in her latest entry:
There is an e-mail going around that
looks like an official one from AOL. I have heard of several who have
received it [...]. It looks totally genuine and says
something to the affect that a problem has arisen and they are unable
to access your account. If payment are not received then your account
will be terminated within 48 hours. You are asked to provide your bank
details again. THIS IS A SCAM. Sorry to "shout" but I need to get the
point over. If you receive this e-mail I urge you to report it to AOL
and of course totally ignore it.

Thank you Guido. The more people that know the better. There are people who will think it genuine and be ripped off. The more that report it to AOL the better, then something can be done.
ReplyDeleteThank you Guido.

So they are doing it again are they? The times we`ve recieved those and then informed AOL of them. I must say the emails do LOOK genuine even though they are not.

erm...is AOL not free in the UK? It is in the US...which would void the 'please pay us or face termination' threat...??

Mine is only free because they partnered with my phone company for DSL. Before that, when I had "dial up" I still paid a monthly fee. Always remember, AOL will never ask for your password and any of that info in an email. Linda in Washington state
