Search scaled down

The search for 13-year old Daniel McTaggart, who went missing yesterday, has been scaled down. Stornoway Coastguard decided at 4pm today to scale the search back to one conducted from the shoreline, which will continue over the next few days. It is assumed that Daniel will not be found alive. He went missing after a canoe initially containing two people was found washed up on a beach at Bragar on Lewis's West Side. His father was picked up from the sea yesterday, but died in hospital.
