Oman affected by Gonu

The BBC reports that cyclone Gonu is beginning to impact the sultanate of Oman with strong winds and high waves. Thousands have fled the capital Musqat, whilst others are being housed in temporary accommodation such as schools and sports halls.

Meanwhile, warnings are going out that southeastern Iran should expect hurricane force winds, and that the storm surge could cause extensive flooding around the Pakistani city of Karachi.
