Hospital on fire
The Royal Marsden Hospital, in the West End of London, went on fire at 1.15pm this afternoon. All patients and staff were safely evacuated, although 6 people were injured during the incident. The patients were transferred to other hospitals in the area. The fire appears to have caused extensive damage to the roof.
The Royal Marsden is a leading centre for developing cures for cancer.

Saw it on the news Guido, the whole roof is gone. Sad thing, it takes the worst cancer cases from all over the world. Wonder how it started.

It`s shocking isn`t it? As Jeannette says, it`s a very special hospital for the cancer patients that are sent there and also much vital research is carried out too. I do hope the damage it can be put right quickly and that the government dig deep to help them out.

What a shame! It looks like it is an older building. I'm glad nobody got killed during this incident. I hope they are able to rebuild.

I saw this on the news...what a huge loss. I was relieved to hear the patients were evacuated safely, those poor souls are going through enough.

How awful !! After working in a hospital for so many years, I know how frightening even the possibility of a fire is, for staff and patients. We had drills on a very regular basis and even a drill would set you heart racing. Linda in Washington state
ReplyDeleteGlad patients made it out!
