Aberdeen Coastguard is co-ordinating the search
for a man who went missing from the dive support vessel Pelican in the
early hours of this morning approximately 143 miles east of Aberdeen.
A search for a suspected man overboard is underway involving 10 vessels and 2 helicopters. George Downie, Watch Manager, Aberdeen Coastguard says:
Visibility is good, but we are very concerned for the welfare of this
man. Sea temperatures in the middle of the North Sea will be cold and
there is a two metre swell.
Our colleagues at the Norwegian Coastguard are assisting us with communications.
SUBSEA 7 can confirm that a situation has occurred onboard the DSND Pelican.
A full press statement will be released by the company once further details of the incident are known.
Relatives can contact SUBSEA 7 on 01224 625525 for further information.

My thoughts and prayers go out to this man and his family; my husband is a commercial diver; some scary stuff can happen out on the water in a matter of seconds. I hope he is ok.

How awful, I hope anbd pray they find the man. That cold water would be his worst enemy. It doesn't take long to die when the water is so cold. So sad...Linda in Washington state
