Well, apart from a handful of heavy showers with hail, we saw the sun again - until it set at 3.34 pm. It's quite cold, just +1C at the moment. The weekend should be sunny but cold mostly everywhere in the country. Next weekend may see more rain coming in from the Atlantic.
The year 2006 was the warmest year on record - and there's still just over a fortnight left of it. Average temperature in the UK was 10.8C, nearly 2C above average.

It's just 10 minutes before noon on Friday here. The sun is brightly shining but it's 38 degrees and still very windy. Linda in Washington
