Bank charges: it's payback time!

UK banks users ONLY

Are you in the UK, and being hammered with charges of £30 to £40 each time you go into the red? Even if it's only for a few pennies or pounds? Do you get a similar charge for a cheque that "bounces"?

Well, it's payback time. Apparently, it doesn't cost the bank that amount of money for somebody to address those problems. An unauthorised overdraft costs £4.50, and a cheque returned for insufficient funds £2.50. So, write to your bank and specify each occasion (backed up by bank statements of course) and ask for your money back.

  2. At our credit union, we have overdraft protection....it's automatically taken out of our savings if we don't have enough in our checking acct to cover the check... and the service is FREE!  Every bank should offer it!

  3. I've never been overdrawn at the bank! I think it's ridiculous that if people having got enouigh money in the bank to honour a cheque then bank charges them money they don't have! Jeannette xx  http://beta.journals.aol.co.uk/jlocorriere05/Welcometomytravels/
