Caring community

Without naming names, I found J-land coming into its own today.
A member of our community sent an email round earlier today, wishing the recipients Season's Greetings and that there was no more hope for self and partner.

One recipient happened to live nearby, and rang the local police station. They telephoned the hospital before calling round at the home, and found that the person concerned had been admitted into hospital, and was safe and well, although no word on condition or anything was given. Further updates will follow, if news there be.

I would like to commend the email recipient who cared enough to call the police, as the email very much read like a final good-bye. I think it says enough about J-land and its members, active or passive.

  5. That's what's attracted me to stay.  To be able to care and be cared for among a group of people who wouldn't know each other if they passed on the street.  It tells me that in what we may see as an uncaring world, most of us really do care about others and I've seen it displayed in the journals I regularly read. 6. It DID read like a final goodbye!  I nearly went into a panic, myself thinking 'OK...what can I do...I must be able to do something...' so I was so relieved to get some information in this mornings emails...  bless her...

  10. Oh wow. I hope the person is going to be okay, and that is so wonderful that the other person cared enough - and took the initiative - to check up.

Its always good to go with gut feelings. Sometimes it isn't a matter of not caring enough, but just not doing the follow-through. Secong guessing or saying, eh, someone else will probably check. It's great to know that this person didn't do that. I hope this story ends well.

  14. I have gone to a number of sites when you said the person was really in need of attention and support from more people, so you have been a big factor in getting around to some of those people so you could relay concerns.  You first sent me over to Jim Halliday's site when he was in the hospital.  He is such a funny guy (my age).  Even when he is falling as he put it in a 'nest of little tables, cutting himself, and having to go be stitched up just recently.  I hope you will keep us informed about the well being of this person today.   Gerry

  15.     I, too, received that e-mail, and was very worried about this person.  The next morning, I received an e-mail from the caring and kindhearted person who went to the trouble to make sure that things were okay.  How lovely that the people in here look out for each other, wherever they may be.   Tina
